Security situation: effective coordination with provinces to be ensured, says Nisar

Intelligence sharing and effective co-ordination will be ensured with all provincial governments to improve the domestic law and order situation, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday. He was talking here with media persons before assuming the charge of his post. He said although this was a provincial subject, but he was ready to facilitate provincial governments at all levels, including intelligence sharing and provisions of manpower.
He said that keeping politics aside, the ministry would continue to cooperate with all provincial governments, especially the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh in this regard. He said that as an interior minister, he was against excessive interference, adding that he would work in accordance with the Constitution.
The Interior Minister said that Islamabad would be made a model district. Later, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan assured the ministry's officials that he would not use them to promote his political agenda. "I will never do anything wrong and expect the same of you all...the ministry's officials must do their work honestly while keeping the national interests supreme," he told a group of senior official during a meeting.
Secretary Interior Raja Muhammad Abbas briefed the minister about the ministry's performance. Chaudhry Nisar said that minor mistakes could be overlooked, but he would not tolerate dishonesty. Stressing the need for austerity in the ministry, he said that he would set an example in this regard. Chaudhry Nisar also urged the ministry's official to perform at an optimum level "for the betterment and welfare of the country".
