Taiwan stocks firmed 0.81 percent on Monday, with LCD panel makers and electronics components the top gainers, up 1.6 percent and 1.4 percent respectively. The main TAIEX index rose 65.35 points to 8,160.55, after opening up 0.82 percent. Financial shares advanced 1.1 percent after a report that the regulator would study whether to ease restrictions on Chinese insurers investing in Taiwanese peers. The Taiwan dollar stood at T$29.819 to the US dollar.
