Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 108,596 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,031 tonnes of import cargo and 50,565 tonnes of export cargo including 5,050 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 58,031 tonnes comprised 34,106 tonnes of containerised cargo and 23,925 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,565 tonnes comprised 38,317 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,834 tonnes of general cargo; 5,414 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,050 containers comprising 2,292 containers import and 2,758 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,196 of 20's and 518 of 40's loaded while 4 of 20's and 28 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,093 of 20's and 551 of 40's loaded containers while 219 of 20's and 172 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are six ships with two container ships, one general cargo ship and three oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels with two container ships, one cement carrier and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.

The total import cargo of 71,884 tonnes includes 35,364 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,430 tonnes of palm oil; 9,273 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 22,800 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 17,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are three ships namely CV MSC Clementina, MT Argent Theresa and MT Oceanic Coral with containers, phosphoric acid and palm oil are expected to sail Monday afternoon. A total number of four vessels viz CV MSC Clementina, MT Argent Theresa, MT Oceanic Coral and MT Lahore are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, phosphoric acid, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely Maersk Pittsburgh, Donga Iris and Theresa Galaxy with containers and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are four vessels viz CV Nysted Maersk, CV Maersk Pittsburgh, MT Donga Iris and MT Theresa Galaxy with containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely MT Al-Soor-II and MV Dynamic Ocean with chemical and furnace oil due to arrive on Tuesday.
