Policeman, two MQM men among eight killed

At least eight persons, including a policeman and two MQM men, were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis here on Wednesday. Unidentified armed men killed Ashfaq, 30, on the Mauripur Road in the limits of Kalri police station during an attempted robbery in a passenger bus.
Sources said that Ashfaq was working in base-1 of Sindh Reserve Police and deployed at Kharadar police station. An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead in Bilal Colony in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. Police said that the deceased lived in Korangi No2 1/2 and was a worker of MQM's unit No71.
Another MQM man named Muhammad Saleem, 35, was shot and killed near Qatar Hospital in the limits of Orangi Town police station. Police said that deceased was an active worker of MQM. A man named Muhammad Bashir, 65, was shot dead after unknown armed men fired on a vehicle of a private security company a graveyard in Khursheedpura in the limits of Baldia Town police station. The deceased was a guard in the said company. Another man, whose identity could not be ascertained till the filing of this report, was killed in a drive-by shooting near Sawan Goth in the limits of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.
A man named Amanat Ali killed his wife, Shazia, 18 and mother-in-law, Nasreen, over a marital dispute in the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station. Police said that incident took place at Singo Lane and accused Amanat was in a drunken condition at the time of the incident. Officials said that the accused insisted upon his motherin-law to allow his wife to live with him, but when she refused, Amanat fired and killed both of them. Another man named Muzamil was gunned down in North Nazimabad in the limits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police station.
