Prime Minister office: non-development expenditures cut by Rs 418 million

The Prime Minister's office non-development expenditures have been cut by Rs 418 million in budget 2013-14. The revised allocation of Prime Minister's office in the outgoing year's was Rs 1.173 billion while Rs 754 million has been allocated in federal budget 2013-14.
Soon after coming into power, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced to curtail the staff of prime minister's office in a bid to reduce the expenditures which swelled to Rs 1.1 billion during current fiscal year. A substantial cut has been made on grants, subsidies and written off loans which have been reduced from Rs 363 million in current fiscal year to Rs 52 billion in 2013-14. The other area where allocation reached to Rs 118 million is physical assets. In budget 2013-14, Rs 6 million has been earmarked for physical assets.
The employees-related expenses have also been reduced from Rs 507 million in current year to Rs 502 million in next year's budget. The operating expenses have increased from Rs 119 million to Rs 128 million but repairs and maintenance allocation has been reduced to Rs 17 million as compared to Rs 22 million of outgoing year's allocation.
An amount of Rs 17 billion has been allocated for Cabinet Division as compared to revised budgetary allocation of Rs 58 billion of the outgoing year. The actual allocation was Rs 39 billion for the current year. An amount of Rs 689 million has been allocated for President House as compared to Rs 798 million allocation of current financial year.
