Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday ordered law enforcement agencies to further beef up security at all national monuments across the country in consultation with provincial governments. The orders were issued during a meeting following the attack on the Quaid-i-Azam Residency in Ziarat a day ago. The Interior Minister also ordered an inquiry into the Ziarat attack.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of police and intelligence agencies, an official said. He said that Chaudhry Nisar also directed authorities concerned to prepare a restoration plan for immediately undertaking repair work and rehabilitation of the historic building in consultation with the Balochistan government.
The official said that the Interior Minister directed Islamabad police to increase vigilance, besides ordering increasing the number of personnel manning police check posts. The official said that the minister also directed the authorities concerned to study installing RDF chip on vehicles.
The chip is installed in number plates or on vehicle's screen, helping its identification. The Interior Minister also ordered police to mount an effective crackdown against criminals. He also directed senior police officials to continually inspect check posts, especially inside the Red Zone, to avert any untoward incident.
