Flour prices increased up to 30 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The prices of flour wheat have increased up to 30 percent in wholesale and local market, due to shortage of sufficient stock of wheat in local mills and surging prices of flour in the Punjab. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has totally depended to procure wheat from Punjab, to fulfil required quantity for its local flour mills, but the delaying in procurement of wheat and restriction in Punjab was also brought adversely affected in the KP, resulted increasing prices of wheat flour in wholesale and open markets.
According to survey conducted by Business Recorder here at wholesale and open market on Saturday, it was witnessed that prices of wheat flour have increased up to 35 percent during last three weeks. The price of wheat flour weighting 85 Kg has shot up from Rs 3,200 to Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,600 in wholesale market, while the flour bag of 20kg fine quality is available at Rs 770 and Rs 780 against the price of previous week Rs 730. Similarly, the price of wheat flour weighting 50Kg also surged at Rs 1,825 with increase of 30 percent in the mentioned period. In the open market, the flour prices also soared up to Rs 95 to 150 per 20Kg bag with increase of 4.7 percent.
