The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed has expressed concern over the weak position of embankments of Kadan Pategy Outfall Drain (KPOD) from its 0 point to RD-95 and has directed the management of Sindh Irrigation Drainage Authority (SIDA) to strengthen these embankments enough so that flood water of current monsoon can be safely passed to the sea creek.
This he directed while visiting the LBOD drains network to ascertain the status of its various components with reference to undertake precautionary measures to meet the flood challenges being posed by current monsoon in the Division. He said that LBOD and its components were the major sources to drain out the storm water towards sea creek as such the strengthening of these drains were very much essential to minimise the losses.
He said that presently the embankments and the bed of KPOD from 0 to RD-95 were not maintained as of active drain, consequently these embankments and bed level of KPOD must be rehabilitated on war footing basis to avoid any big spread of flood water in the area.
