Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 135,925 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,323 tonnes of import cargo and 30,602 tonnes of export cargo including 6,640 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 105,323 tonnes comprised 49,690 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,202 tonnes of general cargo; 22,876 tonnes of bulk cargo and 24,555 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,602 tonnes comprised 27,712 tonnes of containerised cargo; 190 tonnes of general cargo and 2,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,640 containers comprising 3,472 containers import and 3,168 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,197 of 20's and 1,125 of 40's loaded while 3 of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 693 of 20's and 547 of 40's loaded containers while 205 of 20's and 588 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are four ships with two container ships and two general cargo ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are four vessels with three container ships and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Rio Bravo and Brightoil Legend with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Saturday. There are six vessels viz APL Brisbane, MOL Solution, Hanjin Indigo, Gemmar Consul, Ebn Batuta and Industrial Nedland with four container ships, one crude oil tanker and one unit ship respectively due to arrive on Saturday.

The total export cargo of 5,288 tonnes includes 3,230 tonnes of cement and 2,058 tonnes of rice. There is one ship namely MT Gas Esco with LPG sailed out to sea on Saturday morning. A total number of eight vessels viz MV Sam Tiger, MT Asphalt Merchant, MV Titan, MT Lahore, MT Gas Esco, MV Zea Hai-505, MV Alitis and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload cement, LPG, furnace oil, rice, soyabean, bitumen and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely President Folk and Peace Gem with containers and canola seeds respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz CV President Folk and MT Southern Ibis with containers and chemicals respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Saturday. There are no ships due to arrive on Saturday.
