Former cop, JI man among four killed in Karachi

At least four people including former police officer and a supporter of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) were killed in different incidents of violence in the city here on Sunday, police and rescue sources said. In the first incident, a policeman was killed near Super Highway in the limits of Sachal police station. The deceased was identified as Adnan, 40, son of Anwar.
Police said that unknown armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled. As a result he received severe bullet injuries. The injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
SHO Sachal police station Aijaz Rajpar said that ASI Adnan was dismissed from his service after he was found involved malpractices. He was resident of Gulistan-e-Johar. The body was handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities.
A man was shot dead in Orangi Town, Sector-11 near Wajid Shaheed Chowk in the limits of Mominabad police station. The victim was identified as Ghulam Abbas, 22, son of Noor Mohammad. He received single bullet in his forehead. He lived in the same area. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, a man was shot and killed in Surjani area Sector 7-D in the limits of Surjani police station. The victim was identified as Arif, 45, son of Mohammad Sharif. Police said that unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire at a hotel situated in same area leaving him injured. He was rushed to the ASH where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. According to JI, the deceased was the party supporter, who had opened hotel a couple of months ago. Police has started probe into the incident.
In another incident, a man was gunned down over personal dispute in Dawood Goth in the limits of Malir City police station. The deceased was identified as 38-year old Mohammad Raheel, son of Nisar Ahmed. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy.
