Leaders and workers' killings: MQM organises candlelight vigil at Mazar-e-Quaid

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday observed a candle light vigil at Quaid's mausoleum with the theme of "Peace for Karachi, Peace for Pakistan". MQM workers, supporters, sympathisers, office-bearers and their families participated in the vigil. MQM Deputy Conveners and members of Co-ordination Committee were also present on the occasion.
The participants also raised placards and banners inscribed with "Save Karachi, Save Pakistan",
"MPA Raza Haider, MPA Manzar Imam, now MPA Sajid Qureshi, who is next?", "We want peace", "No more terrorism", "I want to live", Say No to Taliban, Karachi is my home" and etc.
Portraits of the slain MQM leaders and workers, who were targeted during the last three months were also displayed on the occasion. MQM Co-ordination Committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi while addressing to the participants demanded elimination of terrorists and terrorism from the country.
"By the candlelight vigil at Quaid's mausoleum, we have proved that the nation wants elimination of terrorism," Rizvi added.
Rizvi said that 50,000 people including armed forces personnel had being killed in terrorists' attacks while the government had not yet taken any cohesive step in this regard.
He further demanded of the government to formulate an effective strategy immediately for combating terrorism.
Earlier, member of the Co-ordination Committee Syed Mustafa Kamal said that it was not terrorism with any particular ethnicity, but with the entire nation.
President Karachi Press Club Imtiaz Faran, Fatima Surraya Bajiya and others eminent personalities also spoke on the occasion.
