Buyers in Pakistan, in past years a wheat exporter, are holding talks about imports of wheat from the Black Sea region, European traders said on Wednesday. "Pakistan has been a wheat exporter for several seasons, but there is belief the country's crop this year was not as good as expected," one European trader said. "Pakistani buyers have returned to the market as importers and are holding talks about buying wheat from the Black Sea region in particular."
There was unconfirmed trade talk that about 50,000 tonnes of Russian/Romanian wheat has already been sold to Pakistan at about $292 a tonne c&f for August shipment to Karachi. Trade talk was of another consignment purchased from Russia/Ukraine.
