With the objective to improving health outcomes by ensuring quality and equity in health service delivery, the provincial health department is holding a two-day Punjab Health Sector Reforms Conference on July 2-3.
In the moot, experts will discuss key issues and challenges in health sector and present analysis of the health sector strategies. The conference will discuss the Punjab Health Sector Strategy and reforms options for improving health outcomes and benefit from the guidance of the participants. On the first day of the moot, there will be discussions in different sessions on Punjab Health, Population and Nutrition Outcomes, Health Sector Governance in the context of 18th Amendment and new Local Government System, Moving to Equity and Universal Health Coverage, persisting Burden of Nutrition, Population Explosion and its Implications, Tertiary and Secondary Care Hospitals-Linkages with Primary Health Care, Health Financing. Apart from this there will be presentation on Punjab Health Sector Strategy on the opening day of the moot.
With high out of pocket payment for health care and lack of social protection mechanism, Punjab faces challenges in improving health outcomes.
