ERRA decides to standardise its payment policy

The Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) is reported to have decided to standardise the mode of payment to contractors to avoid discrimination, a press handout said here on Sunday. The decision, it said, was taken keeping in view the financial constraints faced by the authority.
It said that all DG's had been instructed to make a plan for payment releases, besides ensuring the handing over of completed facilities to departments concerned.
According to the press release, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake-hit areas remained a priority of the federal government and with 138 recently completed projects, Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) "remains committed to completing its ongoing projects".
"This month we completed 36 road and education projects despite financial constraints," said Deputy Chairman of the authority Major-General Azim Asif.
In a recent meeting, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal was briefed on ERRA's role and the status of projects in earthquake-hit areas.
The minister gave his consent to be the Chief Guest at the upcoming 'National Workshop on Implementation of Building Code of Pakistan for Safer Reconstruction and Resilient Pakistan' scheduled to be held in early July this year.-PR
