Power shortage has surged again in the provincial capital, hitting 12 hours a day with intense humid weather. It may be noted that power shortage had registered substantial drop at the weekend with improvement in weather. However, it could not prolong with increase in mercury and power load shedding hit again to unbearable level. There were also complaints of low load in many areas of the city.
Besides the urban areas, the rural areas witnessed up to 15 hours a day load shedding and the domestic consumers kept on facing acute shortage of basic amenities. Sources said all is set for the prime minister to make his first public address and announce the much-awaited energy policy ahead of the start of Ramazan. Not only the domestic but the industrial consumers are also waiting for the energy policy anxiously.
The industrial consumers have also been exposed to 12 hours a day load shedding right after the direction from the Supreme Court of equal distribution of energy among consumers. Ministry of Water & Power functionaries are keeping mum over the resolution of the problem and advising the industrial consumers to wait for the energy policy. However, the industrial consumers are not very happy with the government approach. According to them, the government seemed more interested in political solutions than economic one. They said the government has focused all its attention of appeasing the domestic consumers while ignoring the industrial zones.
