Salman Farooqui: Supreme Court seeks record

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed relevant authorities to submit specific notifications on postings, transfers, deputations and termination from services of government employees and advisors during the tenure of the last caretaker government.
The court asked the counsel for Federal Ombudsman Secretariat to place on record a request made by Ombudsman Salman Farooqui to the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) for salary cheques and Last Pay Certificate (LPC) of the incumbent.
The Ombudsman Secretariat was also asked to submit copies of notification through which Farooqui was granted leave as well as a copy of No-Objection Certificate that allowed him to go abroad for the purpose of his wife's medical treatment. The court ordered AGPR to submit certified copies of receipt register through which Farooqui's appointment notification was received.
The AGPR was also asked to produce certified copies of issuance of pay slips to Farooqui, as former Secretary General to President of Pakistan along with copies of notifications of relinquishing charge of his earlier position. The head of Printing Corporation of Pakistan was directed to submit a copy of the gazette regarding the oath taken by Farooqui as Federal Ombudsman on March 01, 2013.
The bench also asked the authorities concerned to submit copies of notifications of appointments of Tax Ombudsman, Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace. A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the matter. Transparency International-Pakistan Advisor Syed Adil Gillani was also present. The hearing of case was adjourned till July 04 (today).
