04 Jul, 2013

The protesting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Dera Bugti on Wednesday turned violent and stormed Shifa International Hospital when the hospital administration refused to handover the dead body of one of their group mate to them, who died of acute fever.
The deceased, Gul Sher, was suffering from fever for the last 20 days at the camp set up by protesting IDPs of Dera Bugti at Constitution Avenue. When his condition deteriorated he was taken to Shifa Hospital for treatment where he breathed his last. But the hospital administration refused to hand over the body to the heirs. The protesters demanded of the hospital administration to hand over the dead body, so that they could burry him in his ancestral graveyard at Dera Bugti. The protesters staged a protest sit-in at Shifa International Hospital and threatened that they will continue protest until the body was handed over to them.
Sources in the hospital said that local administration had ordered them not to handover the body to the heirs. Islamabad administration is apprehended that the relatives of the deceased may stage a protest demonstration along with dead in front of the parliament house and may create law and order.
Jamhori Waten Party (JWP) President Shazain Bugti said the government had taken the dead body into custody which is a violation of the law. He said that he was told by the hospital administration to meet Chief Commissioner Islamabad. However, he said that he refused to meet him and added the Chief Commissioner was not the appropriate authority to resolve the issue. "We want to take the dead to our native land and only Prime Minister or another higher government authority can intervene to allow us to go Dera Bugti," he said.
