Australian dollar pares losses

05 Jul, 2013

The Australian dollar pared a little of its recent hefty losses on Thursday after the country's central bank said markets had misinterpreted remarks about its latest policy meeting, leading investors to lengthen the odds on a rate cut. The Aussie popped up a third of a cent to $0.9115, and away from a three-year trough of $0.9036 hit overnight.
The New Zealand dollar remained in the ascendancy against its Australian cousin, which Had hit a 4-1/2 year low of NZ$1.1639 on Wednesday. However, the kiwi was struggling against the US dollar, as investors squared ahead of a holiday and Friday's jobs data. The New Zealand dollar was at $0.7790, after finding support at $0.7725. New Zealand government bonds had an offered tone, pushing yields 4.5 basis points higher along the curve.
