Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 102,337 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,284 tonnes of import cargo and 20,053 tonnes of export cargo including 5,820 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 82,284 tonnes comprised 49,833 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,303 tonnes of general cargo; 31,148 tonnes of bulk cargo: 29,150 tonnes of coal and 1,998 tonnes of sulphur.
The total export cargo of 20,053 tonnes comprised 18,998 tonnes of containerised cargo; 311 tonnes of general cargo and 744 tonnes of cement. As many as 5,820 containers comprising 3,802 containers import and 2,018 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,167 of 20's and 1,151 of 40's loaded while 91 of 20's and 121 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 447 of 20's and 338 of 40's loaded containers while 305 of 20's and 295 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are six ships namely Imara, Ital Moderna, Arctic Bay, Kong Que Zuo, Priscilla and Green Bay with two container ships, two oil tankers, one general cargo ship and one vehicles carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are three vessels viz Cape, UASC Ajman and Green Bay with two container ships and one vehicles carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely YM Zenith, Pona, Cape and Furuholmen with three container ships and one oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Thursday. There are two vessels viz Pona and Kota Karim with two container ships due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz OEL Trust, Tai Pei, Hammonia, Oriental Protea and Ellie with three container ships, one ethanol tanker and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

The total export cargo includes 22,911 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are four ships namely CV Sealand New York, CV Al- Abdali, CV Nysted Maersk and MT Lahore with containers and furnace oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of six vessels viz CV Sealand New York, CV Al- Abdali, CV Nysted Maersk, MV Stolt Megami, MV Out Rivaling-2 and MT Lahore are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, chemicals, iron ore and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely CMA CGM Bellini, Argent Cosmos, MT Quetta and Flora with containers, edible oil, furnace oil and cement currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are three vessels with containers and chemicals took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Bellini and MT Argent Cosmos with containers and edible oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
