Sindh government hands over SM Science College to SMIU after 39 years

The government of Sindh has handed over S.M. Science College to its mother institution-the Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) after 39 years. A SMIU statement here on Friday said that a notification in this regard was issued on July 18.
It said that the Sindh government has mentioned that, "In pursuance to this department's (Education and Literacy Department) notification of even number dated 31/8/2012 and dated 4/10/2012 and with the approval of the competent authority the merger of S.M. Government Science College with Sindh Madressatul Islam University Would be on the following terms and conditions:
The SM Science College has been declared as constituent part of SMIU, Karachi, by merger of the college in the University, the SMIU shall convert the college into a model college that will function under the administrative control of SMIU Karachi and the staff/faculty members working in the college are given following options: Either to continue work with the college at SMIU or remain under the administrative control of the government of Sindh (Education and Literacy Department).
While talking to the senior management of SMIU after receiving the notification in respect of merger of S.M. Science College to SMIU, Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor SMIU said that the name of the S.M. Science College shall remain same. Similarly, the academic BBA, MBA and PhD courses shall be added to the college. He further said that the faculty and staff members, who shall continue to work with the college under the administrative control of SMIU, shall be given additional one grade. "The SMIU shall put its all efforts to bring the S.M. Science College to a level of one of the best model colleges of the country," Dr Shaikh said. He thanked to government of Sindh by giving S.M. Science College back to SMIU.
