The shopkeepers at Aabpara Market have again encroached upon the footpaths and roads one day after anti-encroachment operation by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Small vendors also set up their stalls on the footpaths following the operation.
Recently, a team of DMA directorate of the CDA conducted an operation against encroachments at Aabpara Market and confiscated the goods placed on footpaths. They also confiscated goods from the parking areas and streets surrounding the market. Majority of the shopkeepers and small vendors remove their goods from the footpaths and roads as the operation starts and again place the goods after the operation. When contacted, officials of the DMA directorate said that an uninterrupted anti-encroachment operation would be continued on daily basis for one week in Aabpara Market. They said that, on the directives of CDA chairman, heads of traders unions of all markets of the federal capital are being contacted, asking them to remove illegal stalls and structures in their respective markets themselves, otherwise the civic authority would conduct the operation without informing them.
