Secretary-General, Jamaat-i-Islami, Liaqat Baloch has said that the energy crisis could lead to the end of the present government. Addressing an Iftar dinner in the city, he said that the people had high expectations from the government but they were getting disappointed. Liaqat Baloch called for building new dams in order to solve the energy crisis on long-term basis after evolving consensus.
Appreciating the government campaign against theft of electricity and gas, he said that the electricity and gas connections of the members of the parliament and assemblies should also be checked during the drive and those found guilty in this respect, be disqualified.
Liaqat Baloch condemned the remarks of foreign office about the trials of JI leaders in Bangladesh as most shameful. He urged the world community to take immediate notice of the matter so that the Islamic character of Bangladesh could be preserved and it did not turn into a slave of India.
