The Karachi police have made fresh security arrangements around all shopping areas in the city, said concerned officials on Sunday. The first of the updated strategy, evolved on modern lines will be focussed on Clifton area where numerous shopping malls and markets are thronged by buyers from the city as well as other parts of the country too.
A rehearsal for these security arrangements, made with specific reference to pre-Eid season when the number of buyers usually increases, was performed on Sunday morning. This was before the commencement of business hours in the area, said the official mentioning that shops are found to remain open seven days a week during Ramazan.
He said the security arrangement would be adopted on basis of rehearsals so as to ensure that no lacunae may occur in execution of the plan. The security plan has been designed by SHO - Clifton under the supervision of SSP - South and SSP Clifton division.
He said charts have been developed and that cops, in plain-clothes, would be deputed at Aashiana Shopping Mall, Uzma Shopping Centre, The Forum, Zamzama Shopping Area and other malls in a way that their presence may not be felt.
