Although the sky rocketing prices of basic commodities yet the city is witnessing hundreds of free Iftar stalls along major roadsides set up by the wealthy people to get the blessing of Almighty Allah during holy month of Ramazan. There has been tremendous progress witnessed in setting up these stalls for the last four to five years. People belonging to different sects of society set up free Iftar stalls on the roadside to facilitate hundreds of passers-by without any discrimination of cast and creed.
However, this year arrangements made at roadside is almost the same as it was in previous years. The biggest arrangement is made near Hasan Squair. People in the country have always stood together with the affected of natural calamities in Pakistan in their most trying times and have tried their best to reduce the intensity of the victims' misery with their kindness and open-handedness. Their enthusiasm reaches to its peak, especially in the month of Ramazan.
Philanthropists have voluntary set up road side free Iftar stalls to facilitate the citizens. People making arrangement of Iftar said that prices of fruits and other items have increased tremendously as compared to last year and we fail to get sufficient quality of fruits and edible items at affordable price and make Iftar arrangement at larger scale.
For many years the people of Karachi used to arrange roadside-free Iftar stalls, voluntarily for travellers and needy people, during the whole month of Ramazan and it has now become a tradition. Iftar is usually heavy, consisting mainly jalebi, samosas, pakoras and namak para, fruits besides the staple dates and water. Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramazan and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together; a date is the first thing to be consumed when the fast is broken.
