Mamnoon secures 309 votes in Punjab Assembly

Mamnoon Hussain candidate of PML-N received 309 votes in presidential elections of the country in Punjab Assembly here on Tuesday. His sole opponent from PTI former Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed pooled 23 votes in the election to the slot. Six votes were cancelled. Punjab Assembly premises were declared as polling station by Election Commission of Pakistan for the purpose of presidential election recently.
Mamnoon Hussain has pooled 432 electoral votes in election to the post of president throughout the country and has been declared president of Pakistan. Pakistan newly elected President Mamnoon Hussain has done his MBA from IBA from Karachi. He remained president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in past. Mamnoon joined Muslim League in 1993 and remained Governor of Sindh in 1999.He served less than six-month for the post. Elected president hails from Agra.
Former Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed of PTI presidential candidate who received 23 votes in election in Punjab Assembly has remained as President Sindh Higher Court Bar in year 1977 and 1978. During 1999 in opposition to martial law, he refused to take oath as Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. He also stood in presidential candidate in 2007 elections. Wajihuddin was born in Delhi on December 1, 1938.Election for the post of president was held from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesday.
