The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore's Institute of Continuing Education and Extension and Dairy and Rural Development Foundation (DRDF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to execute various training programmes in livestock sector.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and DRDF Field Operations Manager Dr Muhammad Zubair Khan signed the MoU at a simple ceremony at UVAS's City Campus. Under the MoU, the UVAS and the DRDF will initiate training courses of Artificial Insemination Assistant (AIA) and Village Veterinary Workers (VVWs) of two to three months durations respectively.
Resource persons from the UVAS will conduct assessment and evaluation of students for certification. The DRDF will co-ordinate with UVAS for implementation of training programmes. The DRDF trainers will train AIAs and VVWs and facilitate the resource person from the UVAS for assessment and evaluation. Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor said that focus of those training programmes must be on hands-on training so that the trainees would learn all the practical skills needed in the field. He said UVAS was increasing its linkages with both public and private sectors for the cause of quality and field-oriented education and training.
