03 Aug, 2013

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has strongly criticised the government for increase in the electricity and petroleum prices and termed it as exploitation of the growers and whole of the nation. KBP Chief Sardar Zafar Hussein reacting to fresh hike in power and POL prices said it would lead to closure of thousands of tube-wells and would bring the wheel of agricultural economy to a halt.
He stated that no relief had been delivered to the masses by the present rulers since they had assumed the office. Repeated increase in the prices of electricity, gas, petroleum and other daily use items had multiplied the hardships of the common man. He said people were already very disturbed because of loadshedding, over billing and high rates of power and gas and the fresh increase would mean depriving the masses from happiness of Eid too and pushing them in to darkness. It seemed that the government wanted to snatch even the last morsel from the masses, he added.
The KBP President alleged that suicides were registering increase due to poverty, unemployment and high rates of petrol, diesel and kerosene oil, adding that fresh increase would ruin the agriculture and industry both. The government had broken all the records of last 60 years. Sardar Zafar stated that 70 percent rural population was annoyed with the failed government policies and such steps of the government were forcing the growers to come on roads.
