Exercise keeps brain active: expert

Physical exercise has profound impact on brain and can improve cognitive functioning, says senior neuroscientist Vijaya Lakshmi Ravindranath. "Physical health has profound impact on brain as physical activity generates more neurons and improves cognitive function," said Ravindranath from Centre for Neuroscience, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The human brain is the interpreter of senses, controller of movement and also responsible for all we embrace as civilisation, Khaleej Times reported here.
It consists of about 100 billion nerve cells, interconnected through innumerable connections measuring up to 3.2 million kilo metres of wiring. Researchers said brain also played a significant role in deciding our social behaviours, emotions, angers and overall health.
