Punjab Health Department (HD) has directed all government hospitals, autonomous medical institutions, Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units to remain high alert during the Eid holidays to cope with any medical emergency in Punjab.
The Punjab Health Department issued the instructions to the principals of autonomous medical institutions, medical superintendents of government hospitals, including DHQ and THQ hospitals, Director General Health Punjab and heads of other subordinate medical institutions for making foolproof arrangements to combat any eventuality, disclosed a department's spokesperson here on Tuesday.
They have been asked to prepare emergency duty roster and emergency crisis management plan to ensure presence of doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff. It is further directed that additional beds also be arranged in every hospital, besides, ensuring availability of sufficient stock of all life saving drugs, vaccines as well as disposable items.
The administrations of government hospitals have been directed to keep bio-medical equipment, machines, patient's lifts and standby generators in perfect working order. They have been further directed that fully functional operation theatres and fully equipped functional ambulances along with trained staff also be made available for transportation of patients and wounded persons. Sufficient quantity of blood bags of all groups along with list of donors should also be made available. The competent authority has directed for strict compliance of these instructions.
