As the government announced three Eid holidays from August 8 to August 10, hundreds of thousands of people have been leaving for their hometowns since Saturday to celebrate Eidul Fitr with their kith and kin. All city bus stands and exit points are witnessing heavy traffic than that on usual days.
The government employees who are not much known for their devotion to duty have already planned 9 days' furlough with their families outside the provincial metropolis. The attendance in the government offices is thin. Similarly, thousands of working-class people, students, business persons, daily-wage earners, building construction artisans/service providers are also leaving the city for their hometowns to celebrate Eidul Fitr. The exodus will continue till Chand Raat or Thursday as the Eid is likely to be on Friday.
