Fesco detects 1,900 cases of power pilferage

Fesco Operation and intelligence staff conducted raids to nab the power pilferers and during one month detected more than 1,900 cases of power pilferers out of which 1,000 were stealing electricity direct from the main line. A spokesman of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco), Tahir Sheikh, said 497 FIRs were registered while 145 were arrested.
On the alleged patronage and negligence 21 Fesco employees and officers were also suspended and inquiries have been initiated against them. The Chief Executive Officer (Fesco) Dr Rana Abudul Jabbar Khan said action against power pilferers and their harbour will continue and Fesco employees involved in this crime would also be taken to task. He also appreciated the efforts of Fesco staff who was waging cruised against power pilferers and thanked media for their active co-operation in this drive.
