The gifted poet, philosopher, writer and occasional actor, Anwar, has written many master pieces for Urdu drama industry. However, this 82-year-old artist was trolled and slammed by many of the Sindhi twitter users over his recent ‘Anwarnama’ skit about the community.
Many called him racist for choosing to make fun and disgracing Sindhis in this video that was uploaded on different video streaming platforms two days ago. Anwar is seen talking to and imitating a character named Ali Nawaz Chandio, who is playing the role of lazy and unproductive man.
Anwer Maqsood just think about that those were sindhis who passed the foundation resoluation in favor of Pakistan. You are insane and racist you should be writer rather to be MQM worker & hate preacher, first he abused #Pakhtoon and now #Sindhis #shameAnwarMaqsood

Once upon Anwar Maqsood was my favourites humour writer but today I curse on his biase and prejudiced typical old MQM type “ Muhajir mentality”. How biased he can be , did he have dare to talk about an interview of punjabi or muhajir or Pashtun... #shameAnwarMaqsood

Seeing the negative reaction over this particular skit, Anwar quickly tried to mend the situation and clear the situation. The poet/writer shared yet another video in which he is seen explaining his thought process behind the video and even called himself a Sindhi who has been living in Sindh since 1948.
