14 Oct, 2013

The federal government on Sunday equipped the Balochistan police with 3,000 machine guns as well as MP5s to enable it to effectively deal with the terrorists in the province. The security force was given 360,000 bullets for the machine guns and an additional 120,000 bullets for the MP5s. The decision to equip Balochistan police with new weapons was under consideration since the new government came to power.
According to reports, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had met and decided that the army would provide as many weapons as possible without causing a dent in their own operations. The purpose of providing more arms and ammunition is to help the Balochistan police with combating rising terrorism in the province.
