Health experts have warned people of being inflicted with gastroenteritis and other bacterial diseases if they had beef and mutton excessively during Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. According to the report, overeating could lead to several health complications. They said it could definitely lead to digestive disorders, which presented with symptoms like bloated stomach, abdominal pain, indigestion, and constipation.
A doctor said that gastroenteritis and indigestion were observed every year after Eid festivals. He said beef in particular was a rich source of protein and good for children and adolescents but not for adults due to a very high source of cholesterol and fat. He said red meat was also not recommended to children with a family history of heart disease. He also advised people to refrain from eating livers, kidneys, hearts and brains of the sacrificed animals.
