Chairman, Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, while hitting the PPP's political opponents hard, said that the PPP would be triumphant in 2018 general elections. Addressing a ceremony to observe the 6th anniversary of those killed in Karsaz blasts held at the blasts' site (Karsaz) he paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 18th October 2007 blasts. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh ministers including Sharjeel Memon, Owais Muzaffar, Mukesh Chawla, PPP leaders Raza Rabbani, Qadir Patel, Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani, Muhammad Siddique Abu Bhai, Najmi Alam, and others were also present on the occasion.
He said that he had 'sacrificed' his childhood and mother for Pakistan and the people of Pakistan. "I do commit with PPP's workers and people of Pakistan, that I will fight for their rights and remain with them at every difficult time," he resolved. He said that Insha-Allah with commitment, enthusiasm and support of the poor people of Pakistan, they would hunt 'Lion' (PML-N's electoral symbol) in 2018's elections and would rescue the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the flood caused by the 'tsunami'.
Attacking MQM indirectly he said that despite getting independence in 1947, Karachi was still "London's colony." He pledged that they would cut the 'kite flying through telephone.' He said that they were not defeated in the last elections rather they preferred to save the precious lives of their workers instead of getting assemblies' seats.
Bilawal said that October 18, 2007 was the day of jubilation, when Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto landed at Karachi Airport, where more than three millions people from all over the country welcomed her. He said that at that time anti-democratic elements and Taliban became furious by seeing such a great public support for the PPP and attacked with a suicide blast using a child.
But, he said, they had not known the PPP was not the party of cowards, rather full of brave leaders/workers who had no hesitation to sacrifice their lives for national cause and rights of the people. "We admit that we could not eliminate terrorism completely from the Pakistan, but we fought out terrorists with courage," he added. He said that when Tahir-ul-Qadri staged his 'drama' to 'highjack' Islamabad, they did not harm anyone from his supporters and resolved the issue peacefully with political wisdom, similarly, when an armed man made Islamabad hostage recently, a PPP Jiyala came to the rescue of the people of Islamabad, when the government did nothing.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah while addressing the ceremony paid tribute to the martyrs of October 18, 2007 blasts. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a unique leader of Pakistan, who despite having life threats returned to the country to free it from the clutches of dictatorship and restore the rights of common people.
Special Assistants to Chief Minister Sindh Waqar Mehdi and PPP leader Raza Rabbani also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to the martyrs. Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers and PPP leaders laid floral wreath at the memorial of those killed in the Karsaz blasts.
