Fazl, Malik, Farzana and Farooqi: Housing Ministry fails to vacate bungalows

The Ministry of Housing and Works has failed to vacate four Bungalows in the Ministers' Enclave occupied by Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik and former chairman Special Committee of Parliament on Kashmir Maulana Fazlur Rehman and former Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja in violation of rules and regulations.
Rehman Malik, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Farzana Raja and Salman Farooqi, ex-advisor to former President Asif Ali Zardari, though are not residing in the Ministers' Enclave, have not yet handed over the keys of their residences to Public Works Department (PWD's) despite the passage of seven months since the PPP led coalition government completed its constitutional tenure, an official source told Business Recorder.
He said that PWD had also informed Minister of Housing and Works in this regard but the Ministry has not yet taken any action. Under the law, federal ministers, state ministers, special assistants, advisers to the prime minister are bound to vacate their official residences within 15 days of relinquishing the charge of their respective offices. He said that under the law former ministers and advisors living in Ministers' Enclave without public office must be charged as per market rate or at standard rate.
The official said that there were a total of 37 Bungalows and 12 apartments at Ministers' Enclave. So far, Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs and Statistics, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister Defence Production, Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (Retd), Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and inter-faith Harmony, Kamran Michael, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development and Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways (PR) Khawaja Saad Rafique have shifted to the Ministers Enclave.
He said that three state ministers including Saira Afzal Tarar, State Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Co-ordination, Shahzada Ahsan Ashraf, State Minister for Industries and Pir Muhammad Amin-ul-Hasnat Shah, Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony have also been allotted official residence in the enclave and reside there. Dr Musadik Malik and Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs and Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly have also been allotted official residences.
