Unknown gunmen kidnapped the former provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Arbab Abdul Zahir on Wednesday. According to police, three armed men stopped the vehicle of Arbab Abdul Zahir at Patel Road of Quetta as soon as he left his house and kidnapped him at gunpoint. The kidnappers tortured the driver of the ANP leader for offering resistance. The abductors also took away the vehicle keys and mobile phones along with them.
The police placing strict cordon off in the area launched operation to recover the abducted ANP leader. Meanwhile, ANP central and provincial leadership have expressed grave concerns over the abduction of senior party leader. They demanded the provincial government and law enforcement agencies to rescue Arbab Abdul Zahir and warned of province wide protests in case of failure in his recovery. They also urged the provincial government for enhancing the security of important political leaders.
