A function was held in the memory of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said on the occasion of his martyrdom day, comprised recitation of holy verses, Na'at, poetic homage, speeches, tableau and dua-i-Said, on Tuesday, on the theme: "Children of Pakistan - Pride of Shaheed-i-Pakistan', under the auspices of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter at a local hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said that Hakim Said, because of his farsightedness, from the very beginning, had observed this fact that without the proper education, cultivation and training of its children - the future of the country, Pakistan could not be able to become a prosperous, secure and developed country, that's why he had taken practical measures to counter illiteracy by building educational institutions, including Hamdard Village School for the free education of village children.
He constituted the forum of "Naunehal Assembly" and brought out a children's magazine - "Hamdard Naunehal" for their mental better progress and to create self confidence among them, which was the key of success in life, she added. Chief guest and social worker, Shamim Kazmi while addressing the gathering of children said that Hakim Said wanted a positive change in our society and to achieve this purpose he started his work from children as he knew that children were the future of Pakistan and could bring the required change if they were adequately trained and educated.
She suggested that cassettes and CDs, containing message and ideas of Hakim Said, should be prepared and be distributed among the children of rural schools, because more than 60 percent population lived in rural areas. She told the children that they should adopt positive thinking and go side by side with those people who had positive approach. Because this was which Hakim Said wanted to, she added. Hakim Mohammed Usman, Deputy Director, Programmes, Hamdard said: "Politicians look at the elections alone while reformers look at the new generations and future of the nations.
