Majority of the robots still lack emotions, which was a category marking them inferior from humans. Huawei is all set to change that by providing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistant for better emotional interactions.
Inspired by the sci-fi flick Her, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is developing an AI assistant that will provide users with better emotional interaction. The team foresees developing a system that can remove the need of touching a smartphone for using the system.
The emotionally intelligent assistant will be able to read user’s mood and respond accordingly. For an enhanced emotional interaction, the assistant can identify emotions through the voice tone, phone usage and such other data.
Huawei to release its first ever 5G enabled smartphone next year
Felix Zhang, Huawei’s Vice President of Software Engineering said in an interview with CNBC, “We want to provide emotional interactions. We think that in the future all our end users wish they can interact with the system in the emotional mode. This is the direction we see in the long run.”
Zhang says that the voice assistant present in the 2013 movie Her is a dream for all engineers. At present, Huawei already offers a voice assistant for its Chinese market, wrote Tech Juice.
