Google has released the first details about the new version of its mobile operating system Android. It will be numbered 4.4 and be called KitKat. It will have interchangeable SMS apps. Users can choose which program they want to send text messages and are no longer limited to the pre-installed standard application.
It's still unclear when KitKat will hit the market. Usually, the new Android versions are first available for Google's own Nexus devices. Users of smartphones and tablets from other manufacturers usually must wait until the company readies their own update.
