People were not really happy with Snapchat’s last redesign and wanted CEO Evan Spiegel to reverse it back to the original one. At that time Spiegel refused saying people will get used to it but now, it’s again going through a redesign.
One of the features of its last redesign included friend’s stories being separated from the brands, celebrities and publishers’ stories. Recently, Snapchat confirmed to Recode that it is testing a change in stories.
The app will take the user generated stories and put them on the Discover page where they will exist next to stories from the brands, publishers, and celebrities - a trait that was found in its old design.
Snapchat’s new update will let you add 16 people to group video chat
A Snapchat representative explained the change saying, “We are always listening to our community and will continue to test updates that we hope will give Snapchatters the best possible experience on our platform.”
However, the spokesperson mentioned that the stories on the Discover section will still be confined to their own feed. This means that the user won’t start watching a story from a friend and immediately jump to a story from a celebrity, the way it used to work and the way Instagram Stories work. Also, celebrities won’t dominate the feed.
Moreover, the new redesign of Snapchat will be only for a small group of test users and it will later be decided if it should be made available publicly or not.
Engadget wrote, this redesign of the stories might be due to negative criticism resulting in a drop in stock price. Snapchat might also use this feature of unified stories as a way to pitch professional content.
