Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP calls to establish security zones during Muharram

The Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has directed police officials to establish security zones and check everyone on three points before entering to Imambargahs and processions during Muharram. These directives were issued after taking a detailed briefing on security plan for Muharram at CPO Peshawar on Wednesday.
All concerned DPOs briefed the police chief with the help of maps and charts about the security plan for Muharram in their respective districts. All Additional IGPs and Regional Police Officers (RPOs) also attended the meeting. The police chief pointed out that all possible measure will be taken for peaceful observance of Muharram and police will perform its duty under strict security plan.
They were also directed to check the routes for processions and sensitive places inside the city through snipper dogs and depute bomb disposal team with every mourning procession. Police officials were informed to hold meetings with all other concerned civil departments in this regard. The police chief made it clear that security arrangements adopted for Muharram will be checked through special Branch and CPO's team and in case of any lapses concerned DPOs will be held responsible for it.
Earlier, the IGP was briefed about the security plan adopted for peaceful observance of Muharram in Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, DIKhan, Bannu and Haripur districts. The IGP was informed that Peshawar has 65 Imambargahs and total of 122 small and big precessions will be taken out during Muharram.
