French Ambassador calls on Chaudhry Nisar

The French Ambassador Philippe Thieband called on the Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Wednesday. The meeting discussed the issues of mutual interest including the geo-political situation of the region, said a press release. The Federal Minister said that Pakistan enjoys good and friendly relations with France and intends to further strengthen the relations based on mutual respect and understanding.
Both dignitaries discussed the security situation of the region with particular reference to the drawdown of American Forces from Afghanistan in 2014. The minister underlined the important role of France in the region and said that France can play a positive role in establishing lasting peace in the region. The minister expressed confidence in the positive outcome of the current peace initiative launched in the light of the decisions of All-Parties Conference.
He stated that Ministry of Interior has put a strong check on the drug and human traffickers on his directions and a number of culprits have been apprehended in last couple of months. The ambassador appreciated the sincere efforts of the government for establishing durable peace in the region and supported the peace initiative launched by the government and added that France was ready to extend all kind of institutional support for capacity-building of the security agencies including the Civil Armed Forces of Pakistan.-PR
