City Police Chief Shahid Hayat Khan on Sunday has announced to provide jobs to 14 football players from Lyari area in the city police force on sports quota consequent to required trials after Ashura. Hayat said it, while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of second semi-finals of Inter-Mohallah Lyari Football Tournament which was organised by the Commissioner's office in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan at Lyari Football Stadium.
He said youth have to participate in healthy recreational activities. "This is with particular reference to sports that hold positive impact on their entire personality," he said.
Shahid Hayat Khan said sports had always been an essential part of our society that was deliberately ignored during past few years which ultimately led a sizable number of local youth towards negative activities.
He sought close co-ordination among all stakeholders to promote sports activities in the metropolis. He also appreciated the efforts of Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui for promoting sports activities. He hoped that the city would soon be able to witness fresh faces of football stars like Ali Nawaz, Captain Omer, Abdul Ghafoor, Abdullah Rahi and others.
