Pakistan should honour IP gasline project deal: MCCI

Pakistan should not hesitate to contact the countries such as Russia, China, Turkey, Iran to meet its energy crises and we should honour the deal on Pak-Iran pipeline project as much opportunities and resources are available in Pakistan. Khawaja Muhammad Usman President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) said expertise of Russian Federation in coal energy could resolve problems being faced by Pakistan. It would certainly enhance bilateral trade.
He said that we should establish joint ventures between different countries for enhancement of trade volume. He said that Russia being a state rich in oil and gas resources might come forward to help in resolving the energy crisis of our country. He said value adding in the agriculture produce of like in dairy, horticulture, aquaculture etc have ample potential to promote bilateral trade.
He pointed out problems regarding export of textiles by the Pakistani exporters in respect of non-banking channels, L/C problems and non-transparent mode of payment creating hurdles in business promotions. He was of the view despite cordial relation with Russia the problems of shipments regarding import from Russia via Dubai through mediatory party was also a hurdle between the two countries. He said that China was establishing its bank's branches in Pakistan. Similarly, Russia and Iran should also open its banks in Pakistan. He was of the view that Russian Federation being a major producer of steel in the world could assist with its technical expertise in the sector of steel products.
