National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) has recovered six stolen/snatched vehicles in a week and arrested two car-lifters. As per details, Motorway Police Officers SPO Nadeem Akhtar and SPO Waseem Abbas were on their routine patrolling duty, when they saw a silver coloured GLI car No IDN-277 parked on Motorway (M-2) in the area of Chakri. On searching the NH&MP officers found an original number plate bearing No IDH-2405 and two China mobile.
The said car was stolen from the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station, Rawalpindi. In second incident, NH&MP was informed by Islamabad Police that a silver coloured Honda car No VF-260, model 2011 has been snatched at gunpoint from the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station. On this, the Motorway Police got alerted and after few minutes the NH&MP officers SPO Muhammad Almas and PO Muhammad Tanvir saw the said car parked on service road in the area of Taxila. The NH&MP officers, on search of the car, recovered a PSO golden card and a passport.
In third incident, SPO Faisal Malik and SPO Faheem Riasat were on routine patrolling duty on Motorway (M-1) in the area of Burhan, when they saw a Corolla Car No ART-631, which was over-speeding. The NH&MP officers signalled to stop, but the driver instead of stopping, increased the speed of the car, and stopped it at some distance and fled away by taking the advantage of darkness. The NH&MP officers took the car into their custody. On search, a visiting card of Fida Muhammad was found which informed that the said car which was stolen from the jurisdiction of Race Course Police Station, Rawalpindi, belongs to him.
In fourth incident, Motorway Police was informed by a citizen through NH&MP helpline (130) that a Suzuki Carry Van No STG-6777, model 1995 has been stolen from the Jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station, Wah Cantt. On this information, the Motorway Police got alerted all its patrolling officers and after some time NH&MP officers PO Muhammad Hassan and PO Mushtaq Ahmed saw the said van in the area of Taxila. The NH&MP officers signalled to stop, but the driver stopped it at some distance and fled away by taking the advantage of darkness. The NH&MP officers took the car into their custody.
In fifth incident, SPO Nasir Malik and SPO Faisal Malik, during their routine patrolling duty on Motorway (M-1) in Burhan, saw a black colour Honda Car No LZX-506 which was looking suspicious and also over-speeding. The NH&MP officers managed to stop the car and arrested two car lifters namely Jafar Hussain s/o War Jam and Ejaz Ahmed s/o Riaz Ahmed r/o Sahiwal. On inquiry, the culprits confessed their crime and told that the said car was stolen from the jurisdiction of Defence Police Station, Lahore.
In fifth incident, Motorway Police Officers SPO Irshad Hussain and SPO Kashif Amin saw a Honda car No LEC-4564 which was parked on Motorway (M-2) in Sheikhupura. The NH&MP officers took the car in custody. On search, an original number plate bearing No LEC-4223 and a visiting card in the name of Abdul Rehman r/o Lahore were found. The owner of car told the NH&MP officers that the said car was stolen from the jurisdiction of Baghbanpura Police Station, Lahore.
The Motorway Police later on handed over the arrested culprits along with the recovered vehicles to the concerned local police for further legal action. Inspector General, NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has appreciated the performance of the officers who took part in these incidents and announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for them.-PR
