Punjab opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan struck a mammoth knock of 155 runs, while taking his side over the victory line against Balochistan at the Pakistan Cup opener on Wednesday.

Pakistan’s premier One Day International (ODI) tournament started off as a run fest, as Punjab chased down the 365 runs target put on board by Balochistan, winning the game by seven wickets with seven deliveries to spare.

Farhan, who earned a Man of the Match award for his inning of 155 comprising 17 boundaries and two maximums, shared an impressive 238 runs partnership for the second wicket with wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan. The batsman remained unbeaten on 124 runs, hitting 13 boundaries and two sixes.

For Balochistan opening wicketkeeper batsman Bismillah Khan was the star performer with 106 runs, featuring 14 boundaries. Meanwhile, Balochistan skipper Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Nawaz too contributed with the bat with 95 and 83 runs, respectively.

There wasn’t much for the bowlers on both sides to enjoy, as only six wickets fell while 731 runs were piled up.

Punjab skipper Shoaib Malik praised both Farhan and Rizwan for their solid performance and requested the cricket fans to come out and support them.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would take on Kamran Akmal’s Federal Areas today (Thursday) at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
