Mobilink Foundation has initiated a non-food items collection drive for Awaraan, Balochistan affected. The onset of winter has created an urgent need for warm clothing, blankets and temporary shelter for families who have lost their homes and livelihoods in the disaster.
This would be second phase of relief operations. In late October, Mobilink Foundation had sent one consignment of waterproof material to Awaraan. Mobilink Torchbearers (employee volunteers) have now set up relief camps at Mobilink offices across Pakistan, that are collecting clothing, bed sheets, blankets, kitchen utensils, curtains and floor mats. Mobilink has also made arrangements with the Pakistan Army to ensure that the collected material is transported and distributed in the affected regions.
Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communications, Mobilink highlighted, "The situation in Balochistan is grave with the lack of shelter and basic necessities being a serious cause for concern. Mobilink and its Torchbearers continue to work to ensure we can help our fellow Pakistanis in their time of need." Mobilink Foundation was the first from the corporate sector to mobilise relief for earthquake affected.
