Pakistan Railways (PR) and Lahore Transport Company (LTC) held a consultative session at the Railways Headquarter on Friday to discuss the proposed Metro Train project, which will be run from Shahadara to Raiwind in the first stage. The meeting discussed the requirements and resources available for the project.
The discussion was presided over by the Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and attended by the General Manager (Operations) Anjum Pervez, Additional General Manager (traffic) Javed Anwer, Lahore Transport Company (LTC) Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Sibtain Fazal-e-Haleem and various other high ranking officers of both sides.
The Federal Minister told the meeting that the Railways will start upgradation of signalling system between Shahadara to Lahore and Lahore to Raiwind on emergent basis while the meeting also discussed the level crossings falling under the metro train track and ponder over construction of flyovers, underpasses and other issues.
Representatives of the Punjab government urged the Railways administration to provide them information about availability of rolling stock, duration of the project work so as to convey to the investors that how many trains they have to operation and on what basis. Federal Minister directed the railway administration to submit a study report about all the level crossings on this sector within seven days.
Khawaja Ahmad Hassan appreciated the services being rendered by the Minister for improvement of railways and said that he was working with full dedication and passion to revive this dead horse. He said that the Punjab government would also extend full support out of its resources for this cause.
