Pakistan Customs seized 2800gm heroin concealed in a wooden crate of crockery at Karachi Airport. According to details, the Customs Drug Enforcement Cell staff in collaboration with a renowned Courier firm intercepted a suspicious courier package consisting of a wooden crate at Karachi Airport.
The package, which was booked from Karachi for an address in Sri Lanka, upon examination was found to contain heroin powder packed in 24 polythene packets that were concealed in especially crafted cavities in the planks used for making the wooden crate. The sender in his bid to hoodwink the Customs staff miss-declared the contents of the parcel as crockery and family gifts and the crate was apparently containing crockery packed in different size cardboard boxes. Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband heroin, a case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered and investigation is in progress to apprehend the person(s) involved in the offence.-PR
